Art Basel Day 3
31 August 2023
Work of the Week at Zabludowicz Collection was 'Prototype 0028 Embryo' by Invites artist 00 Zhang
There were so many amazing interactive moments such as this wonderful artist/fashionista
Art Unlimited was very interesting. Anne Imhofs installation was based footage of her still life work at Palais de Tokyo
There was a keep fit moment with artist Augustas Serapinas 'Čiurlionsis Gym'. The performance is exercise with plaster moulds
The video work by Rirkrit Tiravanija '(curry for the soul of the forgotten) (two)' brings to the surface cooking ritual in pots and often ignored aesthetics and blurring politics and art to create the most subtle of messages
A new discovery was a work by Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho titled 'News from Nowhere: Eclipse' and its about a man living on a life boat at sea. Audiences enter the work through a cage of light and there is a sense of real and play acting in a hybrid of virtual reality and reality
At 47 Canal the new works by Josh Kline were interesting
Next up, we had so much fun at the Basel Social Club. We met with artist Matt Copson who will be part of the ZC autumn group show, All Crescendo, No Reward
I thought the plasters by Daniele Milvio were interesting
It was great to see the work of Mathis Altmann again
Lizzie and Tiffany loved this brutalist piece, and we thought it was the perfect sculpture for Finland
The work of Zaza Milano was incredibly interesting also
In the deep basement was the work of Hoda Kashiha from Tehran 'Im here, I am not here'
I loved this very sad cat by Olaf Breuning. It was lovely to see his work in this show. We have some beautiful works by Olaf in the collection
Then our heros from Friedman Robbie Fitzpatrick and Yael Salomonowitz who put this almost impossible show together!
We headed back to the hotel and saw one of the biggest feminist marches I have ever seen
We had a lovely evening in the Museum Moderne courtyard hosted by Hauser and Wirth. Iwan Wirth and Marc Payot gave a wonderful speech and showed their deep appreciation of being able to entertain in such art historical surroundings
In the evening I met up with the girls at Trois Rois. Heres my great friends Aliai Senussi, Tif Zab, Maria Baibakov and Heloise Nabon. I had such a great trip in Basel; now to start packing for summer holidays!
