Art Basel Miami Beach 2017: Day Three
16 December 2017
I head back to the art fair for one final look. I was disappointed that there was not enough time to see all the galleries and artworks. However I got through a large quantity of artworks and felt like I had managed to find new and wonderful art. The fair overall was spectacular, vast and spacious
At Greene Naftali there was a new painting by Allen Ruppersberg called ‘Three San Francisco Poets (Jess)’, 2017
Over at Kavi Gupta there was a great work by Manish Nai made by used clothes and wood
We loved Katy Cowan at Cherry and Martin so much that we decided to add a couple of works to the collection
Mother and daughter moment at Simon Lee Gallery
At UNTITLED art fair Don Rubell was talking about collecting in the center of the mini Frieze style fair
There was much to see and so many great works. At Peana Projects the work of Tezontle was very intriguing
Then at False Flag’s stand Sterling Crispin was presenting a very ambitious work about making bit technologies, neurosciences, biopharma and food rations last a lifetime
We dropped into the meticulously curated show by Jeffrey Deitch and Larry Gagosian called ‘ABSTRACT/NOT ABSTRACT’ at the Moore Building in the Design District
My favorite work in the show was a piece made especially for the show by Kelley Walker
Then it was on to a very special to visit the new ICA, the building was formidable. The soul starting to penetrate through works by George Segal being permanently installed in the garden
We even managed to catch a glimpse of the Satellite Art Show. The atmosphere outside the fair was electric and wonderfully weird
We finished off our amazing trip in Miami at the Museum of Ice Cream in a pool of sprinkles!
And a big Birthday celebration for Chloe Wise
