Back in London
16 June 2016
Before getting back to London I headed to New York for a few days.
Had the privilege of visiting Tracey Emin’s show ‘Stone Love’ at Lehmann Maupin with Tracey herself.
On our way out we bumped into Marianna Simnett, whose work we recently acquired and is brilliant, and Matt Copson, who we also have in the Collection.
I dropped in to see Tiffany who, after a hectic week at Armory was just starting her Art Residency with ‘Head Residenter’ Brad Troemel. They had set up an amazing three-week residency called ‘Work in Progress,’ which gave a large redundant office space over to multiple artists to work in and included Sarah Meyohas, Joshua Citarella, Haley Mellin and Violet Dennison.
Home sweet home! So much going on and so little time. Really happy to see the wonderful British artist James Ireland is back in action, hanging out with Paul Luckcraft. His Invites exhibition for us was interesting and even challenging.
Another exciting moment was visiting the ICA and seeing a great installation by Guan Xiao looking at past and present works and different ways of exploring information. It was nice to know she was showing here and at the Zabludowicz Collection at the same time.
Introducing Martine Syms who’s work in ‘Fact & Trouble’ was strong and full of identity. With the help of original photography she was examining the space between live experiences and its representation.
Enough time to drop into lunch at BFAMI where all the lovely ladies got together. Iwona Blazwik and Fiona Rae were in conversation in front of a wonderful backdrop of Fiona’s paintings.
Was proud to see that our Gabriele Beveridge had opened up at Chewdays with some great work.
