Brussels into Toledo/London
5 May 2014
Walter Vanhaerents kindly hosted us at his impressive and voluminous Collection in Brussels
The collection is also showing a show stopping installation by Haroon Mirza.
This James Lee Byars was shining.
During my trip I was fortunate enough to meet some fabulous ‘Brussel people’ including writer Julian Elias Bronner, who writes for Art Forum and his friend, Frederic de Goldschmidt.
I also managed to find time to visit ART'Loft, which was full of wonderful surprises. This work is by a Palestinian artist using materials picked up from the Gaza.
I also discovered Maison Particulière, a large building housing quite a massive array of works from three collectors.
There was such a wide selection of artists all lovingly curated by Myriam and Amaury de Solages. Artists ranging from Don Brown…
to the minimalist work of Angela de la Cruz from the collection Josep Maria Civit. Many of the names were new to me.
Then before I knew it I was in Toledo via Cristina Iglesiases 'Tres Aguas.' A swampy work based on the co-existence of Muslims, Christians and Jewish communities living together for centuries.
All the girls together surrounded by our Art Angel host, James Lingwood.Being back in London in May feels like all the fun and games are just beginning, again.
