FIAC 2017: Day 1
27 October 2017
It was a very long day which I managed to get through by looking at some wonderful art!
First stop was Simon Lee Gallery where he got to show us his wonderful Mel Bochner paintings
Then Danny Goldberg continued the Mel Bochner magnetic word watching
I loved so much on the Xavier Hufkens stand especially the dystopian Disney world of Paul McCarthy
neugerriemschneider’s booth was full of beautifully coloured works by Pae White. The glass bricks in ‘Unclude’, 2017 were magical
There were uncanny sculptures hanging around checking out the art fair with intense loathing
On Balice Hertling’s booth I was excited to see Collection artist Puppies Puppies’ portrait of an artist with no brains
Continuing the theme of violence was the axe ladies at New Galerie’s booth where Marion Dana was showing pieces from Darja Bajagić’s ‘Ex Axes’ series
I was fascinated by Ei Arakawa’s ‘Hawaiian Presence (Kauaii)’ at Overduin and Co.
Cali Thornhill Dewitt’s work at Karma International caught my eye
I was so pleased to see Seyoung Yoon ‘Nexus Stab 3’, 2017 – a delightfully weird work
The work of Eric Croes was a lovely new find - ‘Cadavre exquis, pomme d’or’, 2016 at Sorry We’re Closed booth
