FIAC 2018: Part Three
6 November 2018
Finally it’s the big day, FIAC at the Grand Palais. With so much to see it was an explosion of eye candy!
First artwork spotted was a lovely Will Benedict at Balice Hertling
Then at Overduin & Co. was a vibrant Eliza Douglas painting
It was a real treat to view Walter Price’s work for the first time at Karma
I enjoyed the ceramics of Woody De Othello at Jessica Silverman’s booth, overflowing with fun and humour
Clearing’s Olivier Babin was in great spirits standing in front of a painting by Korakrit Arunanondchai. I spy our wonderful Rachel Maclean badge on his lapel
I very much liked Leandro Erlich’s ‘Sous le ciel’ - one of my favourite atriums at the Paris department store Le Bon Marché had been manipulated
His brilliant swimming pool maquette, I would love to experience the real thing again
It was great to see Max Hooper Schneider’s intricate vitrine at High Art
The perfect crying girl by Anne Collier at Galerie Neu
I loved the stove by Rosemarie Trockel at Sprüth Magers. The work that got away!
The most fabulous bronzes by Nicole Eisenman at Anton Kern
A terrific snake by Jean-Marie Appriou at Eva Presenhuber
David Douard’s complex sculpture ‘SO’ at Rodeo
Haroon Mirza’s wonderful reprisal at Louis Vuitton for copying his work
At Rodolphe Janssen was a lovely work by Louisa Gagliardi who I had the pleasure of meeting
My highlight of the whole trip was visiting the Pompidou. The Franz West show was interesting, I admired the juxtaposition of his furniture and painting
I love his sculptures
The Cubist show was one of the best shows I have ever seen. We discovered many amazing things including Raymond Duchamp-Villon’s ‘Le Chat’, 1913
There were so many great artworks and artists I had never seen before, such as ‘Joséphine Baker (Danse)’ created by Henri Laurens 103 years ago in 1915
