FIAC Day 2
9 December 2021
There was much to see at FIAC Art Fair. We first spotted Jean-Marie Appriou
At mor charpentier we discover for the first time, the work of Théo Mercier
At Stigter van Doesburg we encounter the work of Kevin Bray
We notice this wonderful work by Yngve Holen
At Balice Hertling we find the work of Morgan Courtois. This sculpture is called ‘Soft Bruise (Fold V)’
It was wonderful to see Anicka Yi’s tempura fried flowers in work, ‘Mid Classical V’, at Gladstone Gallery
At Jan Kaps we saw a lovely little Jean-Marie Appriou
At Peres Projects was Donna Huanca’s new outdoor sculptures
At Hauser & Wirth I managed to take a seat in front of Pipilotti Rist and Avery Singer
We managed to visit so many lovely shows. At the Palais de Tokyo we went to Anne Imhof’s exhibition, the Sigmar Polke room was sublime
Anne had curated her installation with many artists, including one of our favourites, Eliza Douglas
The Palais de Tokyo was filled with wonderful installations including an abandoned cinema with pizza boxes
At the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris there was much to see, including baby yoga classes in front of Matisse murals
I loved the ceramics show with so many highlights, including this one, ‘December’, by Matthew Lutz-Kinoy
We adored the work of Sharif Farrag, especially ‘Garden Jar (Winkydoodle)’
A great work by Morgan Courtois called ‘Fold III’
Thaddaeus Ropac were showing Daniel Richter which were seriously electric
At David Zwirner I finally begin to understand the work of Harold Ancart. I love these swimming pool sculptures
We head to the Pompidou Centre. I visit the Georg Baselitz show and begin to take in his work a little better. Each era, was for Baselitz, something to paint about. ‘Ralf III’ was made after artist Ralf Winkler (alias A. R. Penck) chose to stay in the GDR in 1957 when all left for the West Berlin
In contrast, this incredible 1980s ‘Cargo Bookcase’ on display in the exhibition ‘Ettore Sottsass, The Magical Object’
Then a quick visit to the Louis Vuitton Foundation where I caught up with their private VIP security
Then it was time to catch up with Philippe Cohen, along with my BFAMI group, at a private home he had decorated. Maïa Morgensztern arranged this wonderful trip, with Pamela Crystal at the helm
We were all looking at this swimming pool sculpture by Elmgreen & Dragset
