FIAC part 2
5 November 2015
After an exhausting day at the fair we headed to Studio des Acacias to see ‘New American Art,’ a collaboration between Matthew Day Jackson and Rashid Johnson.
It was a strong show and the fashion store music was quite a novelty. Tif Zab in the background.
Palais D ‘Tokyo was rocking with two brilliant shows. The first hadUgo Rondinone looking at John Giorno. It was strange to see a poets life work change from words on the page to physical works of art but it seemed to give it a different resonance. It was a moving landscape of a very warm human being.
Ragnar Kjartansson’s hyperreal presentation was fantastic. Cut through the surface and the subject matter was a little mundane but with real sets and actors Kjartanssons work definitely had a buzz.
A rather lovely surprise came to us in the form of CO-WORKERS at MaM. It had so many wonderful moments for us to discover and included many of the artists we collect. Daniel Keller, Ian Cheng, Oliver Laric, Mark Leckey, Jon Rafman, Amalia Ulman, Parker Ito, DIS, Timor Si Qin, Cécile B.Evans, Christopher Kulendran Thomas, Trisha Baga, Juliette Bonneviot, Rachel Rose, Emily Segal, Ed Atkins, to name but a few! This is a lovely David Douard.
Then in the middle of it all we bumped into HUO, Kevin McGarry, Emily Segal from K-Hole and Beatrix Ruf where we entered into discussing the pros and cons of Periscope. What is its future? Great work by Aude Pariset.
