VA VA BOOM!!! we entered the big snake of a tent on Randall Island with great excitement and were met with a light hearted and relaxed atmosphere. The 'Boofs' were split into four lines and snaked round and round rather intricately. They were placed with such precision that it created a certain amount of purposeful cross-pollination.
We were immediately greeted up front by Hauser & Wirth and after Iwan had once again told us about his fishing expedition in Iceland, we headed to the gallery.
Voila! There were three amazing Isa Genzken's.
Our knee's buckled and we went for it, we knew this was one of our only chances to acquire her work in the primary market.
After this incredible encounter we went on to bump into so many great friends including Peter Fleissig with Karen Lovegrove.
Norah and Norman Stone with Thea Westreich.
Then with coffee cup in hand I bumped into Christopher Kulendran Thomas.
We loved the new work of Jakub Julian Ziolkowski
and Avery Singer’s at Gallery Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler.
My favourite moment this trip was at Société Berlin seeing the juxtaposition of Ned Vena and Josh Kolbo. Ned Vena has now decided to go square instead of round.
Loved this detail of Elliott Hundley at Regen Projects.
I then headed on to Chelsea to see the new Skarstedt space and the amazing Andy Warhol’s next to Yves Kline.
We also dropped into Eye Beam next door where the equally enthusiastic energy of Shane Mecklenburger was shown in the work ‘Fortress of Solitude.’ Here is a happy gamer playing away with the joysticks as the Eye Beam soldiers look on.
We were also intrigued by Jaakko Pallasvuo’s ‘Utopia.’With only a few days in the U.S. I was both enjoying and being exhausted by how much there was to see. However, I am sure I could manage a few more days!
