Frieze Day 2
5 December 2021
I headed back to Frieze Art Fair for visit number two, and there was so much to see! At Bernier/Eliades Gallery was an impressive Brian Rochefort sculpture called ‘Montaña’
At Kate MacGarry I spotted some lovely works by artist Renee So
At OMR gallery artist Atelier Van Lieshout showed some great sculpture, like this piece, ‘Predatory, Wise and Persistent’
My eye was attracted to Ugo Rondinone’s ‘einunddreiBigsterjulizweitausendundeinundzwanzig’ at Esther Schipper
At last, we acquired our first Billy Childish for the Collection
Then there was the question of art or no art with Peter Wächtler’s ‘Untitled (Dog)’
At Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, Zoë Buckman used vintage textiles and chain to create artwork, ‘the marrow of her time’, which looked like boxing gloves
At blank gallery, Bronwyn Katz had created a very intriguing work, showing interesting sculpture, working with found natural materials
I had time to walk to Frieze Masters, which was a delightful treasure trove. At Galerie Templon there were some magnificent examples of underappreciated Jim Dine paintings
At Offer Waterman was a wonderful Patrick Caulfield called ‘Still Life: Maroochydore’
Spotted at Ortuzar Projects was ‘Centaurus’, 1987, a stunning polished aluminium wall sculpture by Lynda Benglis.
