Frieze Week 2010 - Tuesday
12 October 2010
Today was quite amazing - I headed to 176 where we had our wonderful VIP opening for Frieze. The weather was gorgeous and I was basking in the beautiful light that was permeating into the old Church. The building could not have looked better.
Toby gave a wonderful lecture to an attentive and keen audience. He speaks in a most eloquent manner it was a pleasure to hear him talk and he put his audience completely at ease.
Matt, one of our excellent our Gallery Assistant's watching over everything
Judy from Eigen+Art and his new super star Ricarda Roggan dropped by to say hello.
The babies were out in force - JD Evans with his Minnie-me.
Then I headed home to an incredibly festive lunch again for Frieze. We had an RSVP list of 120 people and 150 people showed. The weather was so magnificent that there was enough room for everyone, and their babies!
Many of the artists were able to visit which made the lunch so special, Oskar Schmidt and Sandro Angelo Parrotta, his very cool gallerist from Stuttgart, took a moment to enjoy the fresh air outside.
Boo Ritson had time to pose for me in front of her portrait of me.
Finally I managed to meet Nancy Fouts and Ed Fornieles for the first time. They were both fabulous. Sometimes I like to purchase the works of artists before i actually get to meet them, it is a hard one to explain why. I can say it was a nice surprise to discover that Ed was English and not from LA!
Rebecca Lassman from Louis Vuitton brought Haim Steinbach to us, it was a delight to meet him after all these years of seeing only his work. Anj Smith also dropped by and she was very happy to see two of her beautiful paintings hanging in our living room.In the early evening I collapsed. The Roy headed off with his friend Dylan Brandt to take in the best of the Frieze week parties: Haunch of Venison, Tim Taylor at Hix, Lisson in Paddington AND White Cube in Shoreditch house -where apparently they had synchronized swimming in the pool! I headed off to the more grown up party at Maya Hoffman’s beautiful home in Marylebone where she hosted an exquisite for the Tate International Council.
