GOODBYE MANHATTAN AND GOODBYE TRISHA
22 May 2014
My last four days feel like a lifetime.
There was some great art in Chelsea and our first stop was to see Mika Rottenberg’s ‘Bowls Balls Souls Holes’ at Andrea Rosen Gallery.
On the way out through the revolving bingo door we bumped into our old friend Eamonn Maxwell from Lismore Castle Arts.
Gagosian were showing new work by master painter Glenn Brown. ‘Reproduction’ is one of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen.
We also caught the awesome Sterling Ruby show at Hauser & Wirth.
Sterling Ruby detail.
Team Gallery were showing ‘Chez Perv’, a collaborative exhibition between Gardar Eide Einarsson, Matias Faldbakken and Oscar Tuazon.
In the evening we went to a wonderful thank you evening hosted by Tate. Jet lag and Richard Tuttle talk was a little challenging but my dinner partner George Condo took it in his stride!
Then it was bye-bye Manhattan and hello Red Hook. Back in the home of The Still House Group it was no surprise the gang had been working away to create more art. Peter Sutherland’s residency had led to him creating a lot of new works including a bottle tower with each bottle having its own individual identity.
There were also more of his curious photo rocks.
Zachary Susskind had a great project on the go a ‘wanted’ sheet of a scary perpetrator with purple shoes.
Purple shoes were on their way.
Dylan Lynch had managed to leave everything so pristine and presentable.
London at last! Home sweet home and straight to HQ at Zabludowicz Collection to say goodbye to Trisha Baga.
Stuart Whipps for Invites.
Also goodbye to Infinite City.
A farewell to Kevin Spacey and Major Tom in ‘Other Gravity’
and a last farewell to ‘Madonna y El Nino.’ For anyone that never made it to see the shows, you missed out big time! But Sam Falls, Adriano Costa, Samara Scott and Michael E. Smith will be opening June 26 with Invites: Rachel Pimm running alongside. Can’t wait.
