Head for helmets
25 September 2012
London Fashion week is always so frustrating for me because it has such a great vibe and great fashion designers, but very rarely does it tread confidently into the realm of art.
However Mary Katrantzou is an exception to the rule and we hung out with Gregor Muir from ICA and relished every minute.
The clothes were more than decorative as well as being sculptures. They were true art works. What a blessing we have Mary and what a future lies ahead for her!
Sothebys were once again amazing and generous. They hosted our wonderful Charity auction of bicycle helmets for the Legacy List. Heres the amazing Oli Barker wielding the hammer for Lot 15 by Daisuke Sakaguchi
The helmets were glittering and gleaming. Alexandre da Cuhna and Jewellery designer Stephen Webster were my top bids.
Webster had made a spectacular creation with rhinestones, bells and car horns.
Keith Wilson's was almost edible.
Ed Vaizey gave a lovely speech and the crowds turned up in their hundreds as everyone was looking for a bargain. Our next event is November 22nd in Canary Wharf where Boris Johnson gives the first annual economic Mayors speech for London.
Talking of speeches I managed to make it in time to hear David Roberts speech which was warm and welcoming. We all were celebrating the opening of his new art space in Camden - at last the Zabludowicz Collection has a new neighbour! We are so happy to welcome David, Indre and Vincent to the area.
