I headed off to Julian Schnabel studio where he made me immortal, we met on holiday and he had asked if I would sit for him and I was happy to oblige. It was an incredible experience as he worked away and listened to music at the same time and also answered my unending questions but did not seem to mind. The canvas was full of broken crockery and glass and then suddenly it was transformed, Julian had miraculously captured my true spirit. I was in awe of the painter. In my heart of hearts he is a true master.
Then it was back to walking the streets which was always a joy. We all loved Geoffrey Farmer at Casey Kaplan
We dropped into the New Museum and checked out George Condo's retrospective.
We had time to say hi to Simon Preston he was showing Josh Tonsfeldt in his gallery. I thought the show was spectacular and I feel he is a very exciting artist I definitely want to explore and acquire more of his work for the collection.
The icing on the cake was visiting Sperone Westwater - the space itself was magnificent, designed by Norman Foster and most incredible architecture, one of the viewing rooms was a lift.
Evan Penny’s show worked incredibly well with the space and played with our illusionary sensors
we were totally absorbed into the art works the attention detail, scale and perception was incredible.
