L.A. and SF

A hop and a skip and I was in L.A. at Regen Projects who had an awesome video show including Paul Pfeiffer, John Bock and Gillian Wearing.

I’m not sure if ‘like’ is the word as I watched a raw and intense work by Akram Zaatari, who usually shows with Thomas Dane.

Mihai Nicodim was showing great work by Jack Lavender.

Sean Kennedy was vibrant and intriguing at Thomas Duncan.

Graffiti art was in full flow around L.A. even Kenny Scharf had a go on the wall of Davis Brothers Tires.

The best thing I`ve seen since we walked on the moon was by far Neil Beloufa. (He told me to say that by the way) But really, his work is phenomenal and we all need to watch this space.

Then my other big joy was at LA MOCA to see Samara Golden’s installation. It was totally awesome

especially with our 3D Glasses.

I even had time to introduce one surrealist to another; Jim Shaw and Samara Golden.

Jims wife Marnie Weber had a wonderful installation on display.Totally weird

and there’s something very sinister and real behind those happy little faces!

Even sleeping beauty had a certain deadly aura.

Opposite LA MOCA is the Frank Gehry, Walt Disney Concert Hall. It was an awesome sight; sculpture and architecture combined.

Perry Rubenstein took us to see his wonderful sculpture ‘Flourishing Life’ by Georg Herold. I was truly impressed by the strength of the work.

From L.A. I was swept to San Francisco and straight to the Zabludowicz Collection show at the CCA Wattis in collaboration with the Kadist collection. The team, and specifically Jens Hoffmann, Justin Limoges and Lizzie have pulled off a compelling show with ‘City of Disappearances’. It will be coming to us in London in February next year as 'Infinite City'

In front of our Enrique Metinides is Anthony Huberman, who will curate the Liverpool Biennial next year with Mai Abu ElDahab, the lovely Jessica Silverman who just opened her latest show 'Architecture Undigested' at Fused Space and Hugh Scott Douglas whose work is in our collection.

Then we managed a trip to Anthony Meier Gallery where Tiffany struck a pose for me in front of two Caragh Thuring paintings. The magnificent gallery was originally the home of the de Young off-spring.

Plus a quick visit to Modernbook Gallery where Alex Getty, Clara Azulay and Tiffany are checking out their USA land art trip.

Before I know it I am in Facebook world and even managed to scurry into the Instagram offices. A city of desks with hundreds of places to eat, drink and sit.

The art program is playful with fun artists such as Jonathan Matas or Sean Dietrich appearing all over the place

Everywhere was playful and basic. The art reflected the mood of this genius under-30's generation.

I even managed to visit jaw-breaking headquarters Jawbone where Hugh Scott Douglas and Tiffany were in deep conversation

I was surrounded by genius and they all talked so fast but like many of the emerging artists of today low culture was gluing people of all sorts together. Voila!
