We headed straight to The Underground Museum where I immediately spotted my friend’s work, ‘The Last Barbeque’ lent to the museum by Noah Davis. Sadly, Noah died very young and his wife Karon Davis and her patrons continued to work very hard to steward the museum and continue their vision, but due too many outside conflicts they just closed the museum permanently

Then we went to visit Sayre Gomez at Francois Ghebaly and had delicious tacos in their vast courtyard
We then headed to Night Gallery where I missed my friend and amazing soul Joyce Ostin who was always there and now she is not. A great picture of us with Mary Weatherford and Michael
Luckily, I had Tif, Olivia and Lizzie to keep me company. We loved the work by Samara Golden a spectacular tower block of all things
‘Guts’ is a twelve feet sculpture that is an illusion and creates an impossible space. Her paintings had a happy and colourful sense about them. We all also fell in love with the ceramics by Grant Levy-Lucero
We dropped by to see the work of Daniel T. Gaitor-Lomak, which was very spiritual in measure using some unusual media such as unfrozen popsicles to obscure an iconic image such as the cross giving the effect of stained glass
We took off on our own and visited the mammoth works by Phyllida Barlow in the exhibition ‘glimpse’ at Hauser & Wirth where Phyllida’s intentions are for the works to be menacing and playful
I loved this tooth/ Stone Henge type work called ‘girl i’. You are encouraged to walk around this work and look underneath
We had fun visiting Charles Gaines
The highlight of the trip was Catherine Opie, who is showing her work at Thomas Dane very soon
We ended the evening at Graham Steele’s house; it was so lovely and warm. Felt like home. From left to right James Lindon, Patricia Marshall and Staffan Ahrenberg and us
We headed to Rebecca Morris’ studio which was really interesting, and she is such an individual
Then back to Alia Al-Senussi’s birthday at LACMA where there was a lovely show, and on the way we passed masses of people taking selfies in the Chris Burden lights
