I arrive back in New York and visit ‘Gillian Wearing: Wearing Masks’ at the Guggenheim. The show was so incredible. I was truly blown away and was so happy to see Gillian’s work on an international platform
The main theme running through the show was masks, such as Gillian’s early self portrait in 2000
Great to see Diane Arbus on show here and in life size in Central Park. Arbus once said: “If you scrutinize really closely enough, if in some way you really, really get to it, it becomes fantastic.”
All of Gillian’s heroes were masked and on show, including Claude Cahun
The final work was Gillian’s charm bracelet
I then faired the freezing weather and visited François Ghebaly to see Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork, ‘Solutions to Common Noise Problems’
The Dan Attoe show at the The Hole NYC was fabulous
Last stop was a visit to Brooklyn where I met artists Felix Bernstein and Gabe Rubin with David Lewis. We met in their old kitchen which was full of family history
Final stop was C L E A R I N G, where I saw an amazing show by Marguerite Humeau, ‘ENERGY FLOWS’ which was wonderful, so beautiful. Marguerite is attracted to enigmas, the origin of consciousness, the emotions of other species and the evolution of love
I loved this standalone work which is so poetic and poignant called ‘Rubatosis’ and is inspired by the foxglove. Marguerite Humeau is also in ‘Among the Machines’ at the Zabludowicz Collection
Daata dropped the Rebecca Allen NFT! Rebecca is also going to be featured in ‘Among the Machines’ with a piece titled ‘Bush Soul’ from 1999
