We loved the work of Alina Szapocznikow in ‘To Exalt the Ephemeral’. Born in 1920s Poland to a Jewish family she survived a concentration camp, later moving to Paris where she embraced the surreal. Sadly Alina passed away at the tender age of 46
‘Radical Figures’ at Whitechapel Gallery was spectacular! I found Sanya Kantarovsky’s painting ‘Letdown’ deeply moving. It’s brilliant to see a new generation of artists creating figurative paintings awash with social and political undertones. The wonderful Philip Guston once said ‘I got sick and tired of all that purity. I wanted to tell stories’
