London and Degree Shows
19 June 2013
Back in London and it is time for our students to shine.
At Slade school I liked the work of Julia Crabtree and William Evans called Death Valley
Chelsea Arts School like last year had a strong BA degree show.
Performance art was once again on the agenda or just art verging on the theatrical. A good example was the flamboyant Edward Alderwick.
Gorgeous Liv Fontaine showing some sophisticated performance in a very girlish and sexy way.
Cilla Berg showing me her wonderful world of imagination in the form of a caravan facade and strange structures around made of different materials.
Svetlana Stein work was aesthetically good and feminine. Svetlana walked me around and showed me all the work of her fellow Graduates.
Mimi Winsor had created an ambitious Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory/Roxy Paine scenario with the help of her happy helpers.
The most moving was the work by Jessica Hamp who was very beautiful.
Her elegant arm showing her hand with petite little fingers. It was very brave of her to put herself as the subject which addressed many different scenarios to the audience.
