London is Burning
13 May 2017
After arriving in a shivery London I went straight to the opening of Elliot Dodd’s first solo exhibition at Zabludowicz Collection
For our Invites programme, Elliot produced ‘The Manbody,’ a 4K digital film with a script based on Plato’s Timaeus, written c. 360 BC
A great picture of our Zabludowicz Collection Exhibition Curator Paul Luckraft with Guy Oliver
The Camden Arts Centre is showcasing Martine Syms’ ‘A Pilot For A Show About Nowhere’, 2015 which has been donated to Leeds Art Gallery as part of the VNXXCAS initiative set up by the Contemporary Art Society to help re-dress the gender balance in museum collections. This was a wonderful case of four institutions coming together and a wonderful example of ways in which to support female artists further. Martine was very happy
I have to say that I was most delighted to see ‘Teardrop Centre’ by Paul Johnson,. It was a pleasure to see his intense work again and the way he was investigating a collection of small objects and images to create a new narrative. His work is in the Zabludowicz Collection and he had a residency with CAS back in 2007
Then to most exciting part of the week, a soft opening of our ZAP pop up shop on Dover Street which aims to support emerging artists, Studio Voltaire, Serpentine Galleries, Liverpool Biennial, Glasgow International and BALTIC through the sale of their works and editions. Our very first customer was my girlfriend and artist Sandra Shashou, she was most generous and bought loads of our goodies
