London to Israel
19 July 2022
Photo London at Somerset House was brilliant. There was an incredible array of photos, the highlight being the work of Frank Horvat
His flower photographs were so beautiful
Lovely work by Ismail Zaidy at Nil Gallery
What a wonderful photo of my hero, Lady Diana, taken back in the 90s by Michael Brennan. I used to work for Dodi Fayed and his family back in the 1980s. I designed his homes in London; such amazing memories I have. He was a very sweet man
We visited the ‘Eye of the Collector’ exhibition which was very impressive. We loved the stoneware work by Janet Lines, particularly this work, ‘Shelter No.4’
I also loved this work by Oriel Zinaburg seen here in Ting-Ying Gallery
Then we got to see the beautiful, reflective work by Larry Bell at Hauser & Wirth
Here is Larry with his distinctive hat introducing us to his work
It was so wonderful to be shown round by Lizzie Perrotte who was one of my lecturers when I studied art back in the 1990s
I liked the works of Robert Nava at Pace Gallery very much. They are based on gaming, myths and medieval history
At Zwirner, I had the chance to have my new Rose Wylie booked signed by the lady herself
At lunchtime, I popped into the Gagosian shop in Burlington Arcade where I spotted some amazing chairs by Richard Prince
In the afternoon, I came across some incredible works by Thomas Schütte at Frith Street Gallery which were so colourful and eye catching
We spotted actor Brian Cox from the TV series ‘Succession’!
At the Tate, I finally managed to see Lubaina Himid’s fascinating show
Once more back to base to see ‘Among the Machines’ where I explored Joey Holder’s AR work which was a totally riveting experience
In Israel, I loved the Kusama in the lobby of the Tel Aviv Museum
In contrast was a large wall drawing by Maria Saleh Mahameed
We were introduced to the work of Gideon Gechtman whose work explores his sickness during childhood, and his son Yotam’s life of illness and early departure
I went to visit Shira Zelwer where she showed us the making of her migrating birds for her future show in the Tel Aviv Museum
The work was so intricate; it will be an incredible show referring to freedom of migration from one country to another
