London to Malta
27 November 2019
London’s Royal Academy of Arts had an epic and memorable Antony Gormley exhibition
The most interactive show, no sign of digital presence just human movement from room to room
Liam Zab discovering the works
Also at the RA, we were blown away by the work of Helene Schjerfbeck from Finland, incredibly strong and vivid
Checking out KAWS at Skarstedt. When Liam was a young boy I took him to Brian’s studio and this memory stuck with him forever
At last back home taking a break under KAWS
Then we were in Malta, invited by Serpentine and Francis Sultana all because of Pierre Huyghe and his incredible sculpture. The bees were busy working away, an incredible sight!
Hans Ulrich Obrist chaired a wonderful talk at MUŽA. A famous architect multitasking next to me
Norman Foster teaching me about the formality of a chair
Then it was drinks at the wonderful Maltese home of Francis Sultana where this wonderful Jason Rhoades was on display
Astonishing Secundino Hernández paintings commissioned for Francis’ home
At St John’s Cathedral the decoration was magnificent. A gilded monument to all the artisans that came over from Italy and other places to create an eclectic masterpiece. There was more to see than just Caravaggio
We managed to fit in a trip to Blitz, a non-profit and residency space for emerging artists
Antonia Grosse and team organised a beautiful feast at Verdala Palace
We were with a great group of Serpentine patrons and were hosted by the French Ambassador at her beautiful residence in Zebbug
