New York Day 3
8 June 2015
We
started the day by taking in Keith Edmier’s ‘Regeneratrix ’ exhibition at
Petzel Gallery.
He had created a glass copy of the Hermès Kelly bag and taking the story of Grace Kelly using the bag to cover her pregnant stomach, poses it as a surrogate womb.
There were a number of life-casts of Cattleya orchids grown especially for the First Ladies of the USA. Copies for Michelle Obama and Hillary Rodman Clinton were all shown on pink pedestals. Barbara Bush’s orchid really stood out as the prettiest.
Time to drop in to see Jon Rafman’s show at Zach Feuer’s new gallery. Jon had a number of strong works on show with decomposed keyboards in front of really unusual backdrops. Here’s Jon standing in front of his mum Sandra’s untidy desk back in Canada.
Whilst downtown we also saw the wonderful Huma Bhabha show at Salon 94
and then I accidently found myself at Capricious Gallery where I came across the beautiful Cajsa Von Zeipel. Her work was mesmerizing.
