New York... Finally I arrive!
6 March 2013
Fighting of an almighty case of lurgy I enter the big apple - spreading my germs and enthusiasm. Straight to work checking out the most talented New York can offer.
First stop being the studio of Nick van Woert which is now a thriving site of industry with so many wonderful works completed and in-progress. Such as this delicious acid yellow gentleman.
To these abandoned set of sad statues just waiting to be tampered with by Nick.
Loved the work of Joyce Pensato no way is she going to enter maturity, she is just going to be who she is.

The beginning of her Lincoln series to be.
Then a hop skip and a jump to New Jersey to the MANA. This is a no miss place any one in art world has to come visit. The boys created this mega art city before our noses so quietly professionally without any ego and Voila before our eyes is a dream scenario. They are so fabulous they are helping us with our Sound Spill show in May in Times Square. Which was undescribeable. These are some new Kings of New York! Mike Weiss, Yigal Ozeri, Eugene Lemey and Shai Baitel.
Eugene Lemey and his art work.
One of the many interesting shows being presented by MANA - Ray Smith giving an interview for ABC.
Then it was back to Manhattan and we visited the Grandson of Calder - Holton Rower.
He was such a lovely chap and had was surrounded by magical art works.
All colours and sizes.
Then all colours and the same size was the opening of Matthew Chambers show at Untitled. I had not been so swamped by colour and energy since I saw Keith Tyson’s wall drawing hang in The Arsenal in the Venice Biennale.
Matthew Chambers with his special friend showing of our lovely cards that we were selling back at Art13
March 4th is Roy’s birthday and he wanted to be with all his friends. First stop was Alexander Acquavella and Vito Schnabel. Vito had put on a poignant show, it felt as though he had captured the right time in art using such artists as Josh Smith, Tauba Auerbach, Dan Colen Rashid Johnson and Joe Bradley (the latter is not in our collection). Hats off - I loved it!
I see The Future: Alexander, Tiffany, Vito and Birthday Boy Roy.
Then it was Christies and then another future gang but this time a little younger. It was the Y & S show. A great and adventurous start. Roy, Dylan Brant, more art friends, Mat Larkin one of the Y & S artists and Tiffany.Mat Larkin’s matches this work...
Then the evening was full of many exciting events, as well as Steak at Peter Luger we dropped in to CHOSEN where an extraordinary curated show was exhibited in the most spectacular venue.
It was a knock-out - in every nook and cranny there was something quite wonderful going on. Joseph Kosuth and Sherrie Levine in conversation.
Joseph was chatting up my daughter and explained to her it was a piece of cake to get a fat lady into bed, poor Tiffany was totally perplexed. Then the food was catered by Ferran Adria of El Bulli and at the same time curating the menu. The food was explosive to the palate.
Every wall was full of surprises. I bumped into lovely and beautiful Maria Baibakova as well as grafting away at her MBA in Harvard, she has made a commitment to ArtSpace and now is on their board where soon Zabludowicz Collection Editions will be - we are very excited!
Then it was New York private home visits. Very clever sophisticated collectors had decided to install a Viginia Overton work of art in front of their fire place in the middle of Manhattan! Very Cool for School I thought... Was great as usual spending time...…in New York!
