Our Big Day
6 October 2017
Finally our big day arrives! We opened our annual commission Haroon Mirza/hrm199 and Invites: Rebecca Ackroyd
The show was a sensational success and a tantalising effect on all the senses. ‘9/11-11/9 Fear of the Unknown’ 2017 is the first time Mirza has shown this body of work in the UK – mesmerising viewers
His wonderful algorithms were working in full glory and we were all hypnotised by ‘The System’ 2014 which was reworked to be exhibited in our Methodist Chapel building
Rebecca Ackroyd’s presentation was most accomplished and complete. I love her work!
We had a great turn out at our celebratory lunch for Haroon and Rebecca. Everyone was out in force including Frieze Art Fair Director Victoria Siddall, jewellery designer Loree Rodkin, collector Joyce Ostin, Whitechapel Gallery Director Iwona Blazwick and Tif Zab
A happy Haroon with Stefan Kalmár from ICA, Francesca Gavin and our very own Lizzie
Tif Zab with performance artists Sigrid Lauren and Monica Mirabile, better known as FlucT
My digital sister Julia Stoschek turned up for the day to support us. We are both celebrating a decade of existence; for the Zabludowicz Collection 10 years at our North London home and 10 years of Julia’s incredible time-based media collection
The opening was a big hit with 700 visitors through the doors and a couple of doggies to boot
Our Front of House Manager Shirley with Antonio Branco of performance duo 2Dot who modelled in last year’s SCAR SYMBOLS annual commission by Donna Huanca
The evening ended with an after party at Cargo where we were greeted with a DJ set by artist Eddie Peake, followed by stunning performances from FlucT and Factory Floor. We also had the pleasure of a DJ set by Colin Dale to top it off!
