Paris: Day Two
2 December 2019
Finally, we headed to FIAC underneath the Grand Palais’ huge glass dome
Gallery Dawid Radziszewski was showing Louisa Gagliardi, an artist whose work I admire
I visited Daniel at Balice Hertling where I became mesmerised by the work ‘Via con te’ by Enzo Cucchi
I also enjoyed this painting by Iranian artist Mostafa Sarabi
Simone Fattal’s painting, ‘Untitled (upheaval 1)’, was not to be overlooked
At Neue Alte Brücke it was wonderful to see brilliant works by Will Daniels
At Peres Projects there was some very cool sculptures by Austin Lee
We were fans of the work of Eliza Douglas at Overduin & Co. Similar to Andrew Grassie, Douglas captures interiors of art exhibitions. The above focuses on Josh Smith, all beautifully painted
Love the work ‘Be Me (Cultivator)’ by Kelly Akashi at Francois Ghebaly Gallery
Oscar Muñoz was quite astonishing. An absent family portrait, each photo frame carved from white marble
Magnin-A were showing Romauld Hazoumé, one of my old favourites who has actually never entered the collection
Kaari Upson, ‘Grandma 4’, at Massimo de Carlo
There was so much eye candy! My favourite sight was at Simon Lee Gallery
A delightful Haegue Yang
Sherrie Levine appropriated a bronze sculpture of ‘Meiji Elephant and Tigers’
It’s always a pleasure to see Lynda Benglis floating around
The highlight of my FIAC visit was seeing this magnificent painting by Maria Lassnig at Pezel Gallery
Then in the evening we went to see Keith Tyson at Musée Marmottan Monet, a very impressive show in collaboration with Claude Monet’s work
