Peckham to Moscow
1 November 2012
Still gloating over Ruairiadh O’Connell’s work I head to Clapham to visit Nogah Engler and Ori Gersht’s studios.
Nogah shows us her new pristine studio with her show stopping body of work.
We were all in awe and loved her descriptions.
Muriel from Cranford Collection intensely scrutinizing one of Nogah’s paintings.
Ori Gersht very kindly showed us his new work in his high tech studio.
Then it was to visit Studio Voltaire where Tamsin was waiting for us showed us the intense and prolific sculptures by Nicole Eismann.
Finally we are in Peckham and of course first stop is South London Gallery. The restaurant was buzzing with trade, the cuisine was superb. We bumped into Margot Heller, Jake Miller and Jan Debbaut. In the main hall was Rashid Johnson’s show which seemed to be a mini retrospective of his work rather than an intimate environment even if some plants had been placed very high up on the beams of the atrium.
Back in the West End we managed to catch a glimpse of Oscar Tuazon’s tough work at Jonathan Viner. Saad Qureshi was showing at Gazelli Art House on Dover Street called I thought he had managed very well to create a strong show.
