Here I am in New York amongst the many crazy snow storms. The weather is unrelenting right up until the morning I leave for South Africa.
Anyway, straight from the airport I headed to Chelsea and am immediately dazzled by Julian Schnabel's new paintings. Time will tell my friends, but I still believe Julian to be an exemplary master artist, for all the work he creates, once in a while he really manages to pop out some brilliance.
Great picture of my bestie Jill with me, Julian and Andrea Rosen, whose gallery is celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year. With our 20th, it really is the year for anniversaries.
Then a wonderful surprise as Jane Suitor jumps out of a taxi in the middle of the Chelsea wilderness.
We love Jane.
The old Sonnabend gallery, now taken over by Lehmann Maupin, looked incredible.
‘A Secret Affair’ at The Flag Art Foundation was an amazing example of a wonderful collection. It was a terrific first glimpse into The Fuhrman family collection and we adored some of the works, particularly Ron Mueck, Duane Hanson and Maurizio Cattelan. Two policeman standing on their heads by Maurizio Cattelan.
A beautifully poetic work by Yinka Shonibare.
Two oldies by Ron Mueck
And two lovers by Mueck.
We ended the day at a wonderful dinner put on by David Lehmann and Rachel Maupin for ‘Our Tracey’. She was so happy taking some great shots of everyone.
Here’s Lorcan O’Neill and Daniela Gerah cuddling up in the cold. It was so cold.
