I managed to drop into the other half of Jordan Wolfson's show to view ‘House with face’ - Jordan was inspired by his mother’s Long Island Jewish witchy voice shouting ‘This is my house!’ - a contrast I felt to me telling all my kids, in a sad, low and dulcet tone ‘please don’t all go to America and leave your family home’.
Back at HQ there was an interesting talk by John Holten and Natalie Czech, who is showing in ‘You Are Looking …’
Art is everywhere - on my way to Venice I spotted this early and very desirable Toby Ziegler work in the BA lounge.
I arrive in Venice and the streets are brimming with artefacts such as this typical Catholic icon seen on many streets.
The doorbells of homes are adorned with elaborately decorated objects.
We make it to the Philip Guston show at the Academia - it was a huge success! In the history of the museum there has never been any contemporary work shown before. My favourite work was ‘Sleeping', showing the form of the artist’s head just peeking out over his bedsheets.
