Venice - Day 3
7 June 2013
Day 3 Venice I prepare myself for a long day ahead and we all wrap up in our warmest clothes. It is hard to think that three biennales ago it was too hot to walk the streets.
Mr and Mrs Pury have joined forces and formed the exciting new partnership “De Pury De Pury”.
Time to return back to the Arsenale for a quick meeting with Sarah VanDerBeek and Johannes VanDerBeek. They had joined forces to bring their deceased father’s work back to life after thirty years. Jim Shaw informed them at our cocktail bash he had known their father and had seen his work all those years ago.
While in the curated section I spotted some wonderful works by Sarah Lucas this particular work reminded me of Marc Quinn’s Kate Moss sculpture.
We had a wonderful party and introduced the two hot curators in town Alex Gartenfelt and Matt Williams to each other.
My good collector friend Jamie Dinner met up with Ellen Altfest.
Her work was super real and amazingly brilliant in the Central Pavilion.
Jakub Julian Ziolkowski was also hanging around with his new friend Yana Peel.
Jakub’s room is in the Arsenale and the work is brilliant. Here is an example of some of the detail of his work.
Also the artist Varda Caivano and her gallerist Glenn Scott Wright were very happy about her installation in the Central Pavillion in the Giardini.
Picture of me posing in front of our painting by Varda Cavaino loaned to the Biennale.
Damien Hirst was so lucky to have his picture taken with me and by Peter Fleissig and he had a lot to say about the Biennale.
First dinner to celebrate the work of Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin given by Andrea Rosen and Shaun Regen. Then an epic party at Trussardi - the cake was unbelievable. I had never seen anything like this in my life!
Everybody was going for it with DJ's Jarvis Cocker and then TOO MANY DJs it was certainly an evening to remember.
