Words cannot describe what I have experienced in the past couple of weeks but I will give it a go!
6 October 2013
To say I have not lived and breathed all I have seen is an understatement.
MI!MS is at last up and running at full throttle. The show is a dream and an absolute must for everyone to see.
The morning of the opening started with Keith Tyson and Andy Holden in full discussion on the meaning of MI!MS
Then I went to check out our latest MI!MS T Shirts on sale in our shop.
Showing alongside Andy is our latest Invites exhibition where Heather Phillipson presents her amazing installation 'through the flesh tone scenario, the imported combi-boudoir.'Beth Greenacre from Rokeby managed to grab some time in the bed!
We gave a fabulous lunch for Andy and his friends. It was lovely to see his support including Clarrie Wallis, who gave Andy his first big break with his knitted boulder for Art Now at the Tate and Caroline Douglas, Director of Contemporary Arts Society. Andy could also finally relax with his fantastic father Peter Holden, an MBE and top Ornithologist!
Heather Phillipson relaxing with Lizzie after the tense installation period.
Back at the gallery before the evening hoards arrive our two graphic boys Mark Holt and Malcolm Southward took time to relax and bask in the Indian Summer afternoon.
Then it was on to the evening opening which was a great success and even had an Andy lookalike in the form of Rob Tufnell making appearance. Although with so many mistaking him for Andy, Rob soon made a swift exit. They look more alike than Stuart Shave and Jake Miller!
On the weekend I managed to attend Image Games: Ericka Beckman at Tate. Ericka is on the far right.
The event juxtaposed Ericka’s works with a number of artists including Ed Atkins, Helen Benigson, Gil Leung, Sophie Michael and Mary Reid Kelley. Image is of new film Priapus Agonistes, 2013 by Mary Reid Kelley with Patrick Kelly
