Zabludowicz Art Collection Finland Trip: Day Two
11 July 2018
A lovely lunch with all our artists and guests, including the artists in residence, Charles Harlan, Rebecca Ackroyd and Alexandre da Cunha
Matthew Day Jackson, Matthew Darbyshire and Charles Harlan deep in conversation
Then we headed to the Suvikunta Art Barn where we all happily posed outside for photographer Tim Bowditch
Inside the barn is Keith Tyson’s ‘Large Field Array’ which caused a great amount of excitement. They loved the weird and wonderful sculptures, with over 300 parts creating Keith’s universe. From beetles…
To suicide notes…
To men made out of fruit
Over at Rachael Champion’s site specific commission, we were invited by the artist to ‘activate’ the work through a play based on a nuclear waste site in the future
We all took on crazy characters. Sasha Gomeniuk from Hales Gallery, Berndt Arell from Fotografiska, Emma Dexter from the British Council and Skissernas Museum’s Patrick Amsellem joined in to tell the tale
Matthew Day Jackson was our star actor and played the part to perfection
We all took our roles very seriously
After a well-deserved rest, we met for drinks at Sam Falls’ exquisite boat house where the flowers were beautiful
A very happy Patrick Amsellem
Thomas Dane with Alexandre da Cunha
Rachael Champion with Mathew Day Jackson
Our Marimekko girls Maitreyi and Riikka
The next day we headed to Kiasma to see the hilarious and brilliant ‘The Aalto Natives’ by Erkka Nissinen and Nathaniel Mellors
Then, when everyone was gone, I briefly collapsed into Juhani Lemmetti’s chair in his beautiful showroom before heading to Basel for more adventures
