About
Nicholas Brooks works across moving image, sculpture, installation and drawing and fuses these disparate mediums to produce a distinctive aesthetic and convey an atmosphere of intrigue.
Transit of the Megaliths, 2013 abstractly documents a group of sculptural fragments derived from Paul Nash paintings from the 1920s-40s arranged carefully on the roof of a car as it travels through the Suffolk landscape. The film blurrs virtual and real spaces to create an hypnotic final work which seems to animate these fragments - some made by Brooks, and others found and rearranged - with a utopian potential latent in Nash's original compositions.
Nicholas Brooks studied Sculpture at Chelsea College of Art, and completed his MA at the Slade and undertook a Zabludowicz Collection Invites exhibition in November 2013.
