Performance: FlucT

The collaborative work of Sigrid Lauren and Monica Mirabile, FlucT bring their indomitable and unparalleled energy to the exhibition space, combining manipulated pop music psychosis with violently intimate dance for their work FRYER. Programmed as part of the current exhibition, World Receivers, this performance is an evolution of an existing work, reconfigured for the specific installation and architecture of the gallery.

FlucT, established in 2010, addresses the authorities of control specific to American consumerism and its social programming. Creating original soundscapes, their compositions become projections aimed at exposing contemporary systems of alienation.Together, Mirabile and Lauren create duets, video installation, original scores, sculpture, and choreography. Their work has been reviewed by Art in America, The New York Times, The Fader, and Cura Magazine, among others.

In a celebration of deliberate ambiguity, their work is not limited to one thoughtform. Appearing in museums, concerts, music videos, films, fashion shows, educational workshops, etc. They have performed and exhibited at the Guggenheim, The Broad Museum, Miami Art Basel, SIGNAL, Queens Museum and Andrea Rosen Gallery. Their large-scale choreographed productions have included a multiplicity of performing artists, dancers, non-dancers and technicians (‘is it god or am i dog’, UpwardFacingControlTableTop’ and ‘Bigger Than You’). They frequently collaborate with musicians including SOPHIE and PicturePlane, as well as founded Otion Front Studio (est. 2014), a performance and dance space in Brooklyn, New York.
