About
Join us for a drink to celebrate the opening of Dust to Dust and Invites: Milo Creese.
This event is the first in a series of late-night performances taking place every Thursday evening throughout the run of the current shows.
Dust to Dust is a programme of installations, workshops, and live music events, featuring works by Wolfgang Tillmans, Zander Porter and Tianzhuo Chen. Dust to Dust positions Wolfgang Tillmans’ collection work, Lights (Body) (2002) in dialogue with two more recent works, Zander Porter’s Emoji-bot and Tianzhuo Chen’s The Dust (both 2021). Installed across three galleries, each artist’s work alludes to a space of human interaction, of sociality and gathering: the rooms journey from the nightclub, through online space and into the spiritual realm. Yet, the human body is noticeably absent from each work; literally in the case of Tillmans and Chen, and appearing as a speculative avatar for Porter. As a trio, the works push against definitions of liveness, temporality, and the performative.
Working across moving image, music, sculpture and installation, Creese's practice draws on mythology, science and psychology to form dream-like animations. Milo Creese (b.1986, Chertsey UK) received an MA from the Royal College of Art in 2017 and a BA from Wimbledon College of Art in 2015. Recent exhibitions include London Short Film Festival, BFI, London (2022); Tailbone, The Artesian Well, London (2019); Artnight, London (2018); Tenderflix, BFI, London (2018); Transcending species, transcending gender, transcending nations, Deptford Cinema, London (2018). In 2019 Creese was the recipient of the Film London FLAMIN Fellowship.
