Lubaina Himid solo exhibition 'The Truth Is Never Watertight' at Badischer-Kunstverein

Three paintings by British artist Lubaina Himid have been loaned for her solo exhibition The Truth Is Never Watertight at Badischer-Kunstverein in Germany. Lubaina Himid is an artist, writer, educator, and Turner Prize 2017 nominee, who creates work exploring themes of cultural identity and diaspora through images that challenge dominant ideologies surrounding race and womanhood in society. This solo exhibition brings together artwork from across her oevre, from canvases painted in the early 1990s, to more recent responses to the refugee crisis currently unfolding in Europe and the Middle East. Her experimental use of matrerial is also represented, with celebrated room installation Drowned Orchard: Secret Boatyard, 2015, and small scale works on paper also on display.
