29 April 2014
The Zabludowicz Collection's 2013 annual commission Andy Holden: Maximum Irony! Maximum Sincerity 1999-2003: Towards a Unified Theory of MI!MS tours to Spike Island, Bristol from Saturday 3 May – 29 June
The culmination of an 18-month collaboration with the Zabludowicz Collection Andy Holden's, Maximum Irony! Maximum Sincerity 1999-2003: Towards a Unified Theory of MI!MS is his most ambitious project to date, a humorous and moving exploration of creativity and nostalgia. Following a successful run at the Zabludowicz Collection's London gallery from September to December 2013, the show has been recreated at Bristol's international centre for contemporary art Spike Island.
Based on an artistic movement started by Holden and his friends whilst growing up in their hometown of Bedford, MI!MS is a large scale sculptural installation incoporating film, painting, drawing and found objects to trace the history and legacy of their efforts. A special preview will take place on Friday 2nd May, featuring a DJ set from The Grubby Mitts.
Andy Holden: Maximum Irony! Maximum Sincerity 1999-2003 Towards a Unified Theory of MI!MS runs from 3 May until 29 June at Spike Island. Admission is free. For the accompanying events programme and further information please see the Spike Island website.
