Eden Project: World Receivers artist Hayden Dunham

American artist Hayden Dunham will undergo a three day residency at Cornwall's Eden Project which will result in a special performance at the gallery on 4 July.

Drawing from a personal interest in ecology and environmental studies, Dunham will focus her residency on researching the transformation of what was once a working china clay pit into a celebrated ecologically supported and biodiverse site. Investigating materials with detoxifying properties, Dunham will meet with the team's scientists who specialise in soil health and micro bacteria, exploring the idea of toxic environments being worked in until they are habitable. Tying into a larger concern on a societal level, how the world we inhabit is becoming increasingly more contaminated - asbestos powder in the walls; fluoride in the water; C8 in our bodies.

Hayden Dunham’s (b. 1988, Austin, Texas, USA) sculptures are living and transformational in nature, actively relating with the environment in which they are placed. Her constantly evolving practice derives from a personal interest in ecological studies, and her choice of materials evokes both aesthetic and emotional responses.
