Eva Rothschild’s My World and Your World opens in Kings Cross

Since 2012, collection artwork, Empire, 2011 by Eva Rothschild has been on display on the island of Sarvisalo in Finland. The largest outdoor sculpture by Rothschild at the time, this work was originally commissioned by New York's Public Art Fund for a public plaza at the edge of Central Park, which marked the point of transition between the city and the park.

Now a larger scale sculpture, and Rothschild’s first permanent commission in London, My World and Your World, 2020, has just been unveiled in Lewis Cubitt Park, King's Cross. Described by Rothschild as a ‘social sculpture’, this work creates a new meeting place, somewhere to picnic, play and relax, which is perfect for the interactive, open public space of Lewis Cubitt Park.

At 16 metres tall and striped in artist Eva Rothschild’s characteristic colours of black, purple, pink, orange, green and red, this steel sculpture resembles an inverted tree or lightning bolt which begins at one point, then offshoots into the ground in multiple places.
