Glenn Brown: Fantasy Landscapes, Portraits and Beasts
16 June 2018
Zabludowicz Collection is delighted to loan The Aesthetic Poor (for Tim Buckley) after John Martin, 2002 by Glenn Brown to the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle. Known for his references to historical paintings, this work is based on a small black and white etching by John Martin (1789-1854). The original subject matter; a gathering of figures at the foot of the painting has been removed to create a scaleless, other worldly scene.
Glenn Brown: Fantasy Landscapes, Portraits and Beasts will feature some of the artist's latest works, alongside his own curation of the Laing Art Gallery's painting collection. The exhibition will be on view from 16 June 2018 to 21 October 2018. Further information is available on their website.
