Master Class 2018
About
Testing Ground: Master Class is a week-long intensive for emerging artists developed in collaboration with artist Doug Fishbone at the Zabludowicz Collection.
Now in its 6th year, Master Class offers a unique and free opportunity for eight emerging artists selected through a national Open Call. Over the course of a week, the participants work closely with leading international artists and key arts professionals to discuss and develop their individual practices through a series of lectures, tutorials, workshops, reading groups, gallery visits and seminars.
The week is structured around four public lectures and closed teaching days from guest artists. The guest artists this year are Ericka Beckman, Jake Chapman, Michael Dean and Richard Wentworth. Follow the links below for details and booking.
The emerging artists participating in this year’s initiative are: Chloe Ashley (Kent), Corey Bartle-Sanderson (London), Sam Blackwood (Sheffield), Eleanor Duffin (Bristol), Bob Gelsthorpe (Cardiff), Clinton Kirkpatrick (Belfast), Penelope Koliopoulou (London), and Suzi Osborn (Birmingham).
Participant testimonials
It’s an urgent week, that’s intense and concentrated, but above all else, it’s really fucking useful.
Bob Gelsthorp
I feel that Master Class has had a massive impact on my practice, which I feel will become apparent over the next year. I’m really excited about how the programme has shaped my thinking, and I feel it will have a dramatic influence on the work.
Chloe Ashley
I'm jealous I can't come back again next year!
